Social Work

These internships involve working as a volunteer in various NGOs. The work is different for every NGO. Following are the list of some NGOs worth pursuing an internship with:

  • Asmat: An NGO based in Delhi whose goal is to uplift the rural population and make them aware.  The work involves working at the grass root level. As a volunteer, you will be conducting door to door sessions on financial literacy, substance abuse, policy awareness, health in the village of Ahmadpur Darewala, Haryana. You will also be teaching children.

  • Make A Difference: It is India’s largest youth organization which gives a platform to become leaders who bring positive social impact in the lives of children. As a volunteer, you will be providing academic support to various children and youth in shelters, enable their vocational learning. Also ensuring financial sustainability and security for children in shelters by executing crowd funding campaigns.

  • Teach For India:  An NGO aimed to bring a drastic change in India’s education sector. As a volunteer, you will be required to help the fellows working with TFI in strengthening the classroom teaching. Also to plan, execute and archive TFI events across the country.

​

  • Feeding India: Feeding India is a not-for-profit social enterprise which aims to connect two major social problems today: Hunger and food waste as solutions for each other. They tackle these by channelizing excess food from individuals, weddings, restaurants, corporate offices to the people who really need it and have no means or access to food. As a volunteer you will be required to assist with all these operations.

  • IPSA:  IPSA (Intellectuals for Peace, Social justice and Attitudinal Progressiveness) is determined to act on issues that need to be addressed for a better tomorrow. Lack of education and the disequilibrium in wealth distribution are the root causes of many problems that are affecting the day to day life of the general public. As a volunteer you will be required to provide education to the jail inmates.

  • Indian Social Responsibility Network: Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) is a multi-dimensional facilitation network working in the domain of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development in India.  

  1. Implementing ‘corporate social responsibility" (CSR) projects

  3. Performing research 

  4. Engaging in content development

  • Payodhi Welfare Foundation:

It is an NGO working at PAN India level. Payodhi Welfare Foundation has the vision to privilege/prioritize unprivileged segment of society irrespective of caste, creed, and religion.

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Conduct a survey for water and sanitation in urban schools
2. Carry out a survey in private schools on water and sanitation
3. Prepare questionnaire on water and sanitation

​

  • Rural Roots:

It is an NGO that aims to generate large scale livelihood foe women below poverty line in Deoria (a village in U.P.) The work involves working in various dimensions of sales, strategy and research so as to explore wider markets for the products made by the women in the village.

 

Future prospects of pursuing a social work internship:
