Entrepreneurship can be Deadly

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

'People push their limits and take risks in their desire to become successful entrepreneurs, rich and powerful'. Many young graduates these days believe in working for themselves, which shows the bold and fearless mentality of the young generation of today. Many of them decide to take extreme decisions like dropping out of college, with the hope that they become the next Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg but entrepreneurship is anything but easy.

Establishing a business, and financing it, is in itself quite a big challenge. Taking investments from angel investors or venture capitalists is not possible for everyone as angel investors or VCs usually invest in businesses that seem scalable potentially to a national or a global level. Even loans from banks are not at all easy when it comes to funding a startup and loans from moneylenders can be a deadly loop in itself.

As a result, people sometimes invest their life savings in their startups, risking their entire lives. Then if the business is not working, entrepreneurs hang on to it as long as they can because they just can't accept the fact that their business is not working and all their hard work, and money invested is in going in vain. This can lead to a person wasting his/her precious time and money on something that is not going to yield anything good.

The dissolution of the firms and businesses results in sorrow but at the same time, great anxiousness for the entrepreneurs as they have to, in a way restart their careers, find a job or start another business. All this tension while having the biggest tension of them all which is the personal and the family's needs.

Therefore, to conclude, one should really be careful and mindful while choosing entrepreneurship as a profession as the reward of being a successful entrepreneur might be high but the element of risk is also quite high. Being a successful entrepreneur requires a lot of hard work, persistence, and supervision as the road ahead is not going to be easy at all.
